Meeting Ben Franklin
By: Matthew Montalvan
The Fifth graders had a lucky day on Friday, October 11th. We met Ben Franklin and 4-5 of his inventions. Did you know his assistant was a mouse, sounds ridiculous, but true? After a few, “Yeah’s” and “Neah’s,” we moved on to history. Franklin had 16 other siblings, poor man. We eventually learned that before Ben was an inventor, he worked as a printer for his brother. Farewell my fellow time travelers, it was an adventure!
Fifth graders also got to see an authentic vintage printing press. We learned about how to set type, and what life was like for printing apprentices, like Ben Franklin. Did you know Rodgrido will be a brick maker??
